What helps us quote

Your postcode, a line about what you’ve noticed (a damp patch, a slipped slate, a leaking gutter) and, if you can take them safely from the ground or a window, a couple of photos. Please don’t climb onto the roof or a ladder to get them.

Roof leaking right now? What to do while you wait

• Stay safe first — if water is near light fittings, sockets or the consumer unit, switch off the electricity to that area at the fuse board if it is safe to do so.
• Contain the water — buckets and towels under drips, and move furniture and valuables away. If a ceiling is bulging with water, keep clear of it.
• Stay off the roof — wet slates and tiles are dangerous, especially in wind. A temporary cover is our job.
• Take photos of the damage inside and out for your insurer.
